I completed my first playthrough of Dragon Age 2 the other day and I decided to start another game. In my first game, I romanced Fenris with friendship. I was thinking of romancing him with rivalry this game if our dialogue would be much different, but I also downloaded the content for Sebastian. Obviously jealous Fenris won't like me flirting with Sebastian, so opinions on which I should go for?DA2 - Fenris or Sebastian?
All love interests are remarkably tolerant of flirtation with other characters, EXCEPT for Sebastian. Sebastian is also not fully romanceable, is hetero only, and going this route never results in sex of any sort, not even a kiss, with the Prince of Starkhaven.
If you take the friendship route with Sebastian, he will remain with the Chantry, where remember... *he is ordained!* As a Chantry Brother he won't be having sex with anyone, but will offer a 'chaste marriage' in the eyes of the Maker, after you too join the Chantry as a Sister. Fun!
If you take the rivalry route, Sebastian will indicate that he will return to take Starkhaven back, by main force if necessary, and invites you to join him after he completes this task. Still no in-game nookie with the toon that looks like the love child of Matthew McConaughey and Paul Newman.
Still, after choosing Sebastian's recommendation for what to do about Anders in Act 3 in one play through, he went so far as to wish things had been different and he and Hawke could be together. That's about as much as you get from his highnessness.
Fenris is always a good romance, and I've both friend and rival-manced him. He's more cantankerous in a rivalry relationship - but not by much. He refuses the Sword of Mercy, but accepts the book gift. The romance scenes go pretty much the same and the mechanics work the same, except you go out of your way now to piss him off. If you dual romance him and Anders you get a little bit more bitter jealousy interaction between the two, but not a ton.DA2 - Fenris or Sebastian?
Sebastian's romance is really lame. You can hardly even call it a romance. You only have a couple of flirt scenes and the end is a letdown. If you do it anyway I highly suggest that you rival him, you will see why in the end.
The rivalry romance with Fenris isn't all that much different than friendship in terms of dialogue and how it ends. He's a lot more angry and it's kind of hard to tell why he likes Hawke at all. But, a lot of people find the conflict appealing.
