Truely, thank you to anyone who relplies, i really am a newbie when it comes to this stuff :PProcessor upgrade help please :)?
Power supply is good with the hardware you have and the addition of the new CPU, calculator says 440w, your covered. Did the same as you are doing a while back. Upgraded from a E8400 c2d to a Q9505 c2q. Dramatic difference. Also went to 8GB of memory. Overkill, but with the board I have it is 4GB or 8GB, only 2 slots for memory. Only item, and I think you checked this out, is if the board needs a BIOS update. This should be done if needed, before the new processor is installed. I keep my own updated on a continuous basis anyway. Gigabyte can help you with this if needed. You may want to upgrade now or later to a rifle type copper tube CPU cooler seeing your use of the computer in gaming. Does matter. They run a lot cooler. This system I run a $20 Rosewill cooler. Most of the time I see a average of 30C in temp. Link below. Hope it helps.
