Is dragon age 2 disappointing?

If so then why, im thinking about buying. I loved the first bought all the dlc's and expansion.

also if its better tell me why, too. thanks! Is dragon age 2 disappointing?
More or less, Yes it is compared to its predecessors. Characters are definitely not a witty or enjoyable as before. I find myself skipping through dialogues because of this. This was a huge problem for me, as I thoroghly enjoyed the characters from previous games. No one's story is compelling, for instance you help one of your lady companions get laid. You fight in a a very limited world. Most of the time, you only fight on the streets of Kirkwall, VERY repetitive. outside the city? oh, there's only about 3 locations, a mine, a beach, and an elve village. There's a couple dragons in there. Kind of ruined the dynamic. Was able to have a same-sex monogomous relationship with Anders which was nice. We exchanged keys. Other than that, there was nothing in this game that I thought was interesting. And what was interesting occurred in the last hour of gameplay
Whether or not you'll find it disappointing depends on how you play the game, I suppose.

The RPG elements (dialogue, equipment, etc.) have been heavily scaled back. Dialogue is now extremely simple and offers very little in the way of grey areas. You can give a good, bad or funny response. That's pretty much it. It's much less involved than in the first game, which is a bad thing from my perspective. I liked the variety of responses in the first game. In this one it often feels as if what you say is largely immaterial, as you often get the same lines from others no matter what you say.

There is no companion equipment in Dragon Age 2 either, which is again a loss for me. I mean, they have their own upgradeable armour, but you can't share equipment with them yourself (except accessories and weapons). There seems to be a similar amount of loot as in the first game, so it does rather lead me to wonder why only one character can use it.

A big loss is the overhead tactical camera. You can zoom the camera in and out, but not to an extent great enough to gain anything tactically. If you never used the overhead camera, then no harm done, but nightmare mode often demands it.

Something else that I felt rather detracted from the experience was the lack of friendly fire on anything below nightmare mode. Combat is certainly a blunter experience in this game than the last. If you want to explode a big bugger-off load of fireballs over your party, no problem. It's easier, certainly, but it feels like they sacrificed a bit of the finesse.

This isn't all to say I dislike the game. I like it but I'm not currently crazy about it in the same way I was about Origins. I find the writing is a little more hackneyed in this game, but it's Bioware writing so it's better than most even when it's bad.

If you enjoyed Origins on normal mode on console, you'll probably be happy. If you played it on the PC or on higher difficulties, you'll probably be a bit flummoxed as to why they've made it so like Mass Effect 2.

I've been playing for a few hours, and I have tried to play it much in the same way I do other RPGs, with heavy emphasis on exploring and dialogue trees and ensuring everyone is fully upgraded and so on. It is clear, though, that the game has been optimised for uncomplicated console play. All in all, though, based on what I've seen so far, it's worth buying, but just don't expect particularly similar gameplay as in the first game.Is dragon age 2 disappointing?
I'm almost finished and I am enjoying it. Don't expect it to be anything like the first game. It's a completely different experience. But, the story is still great and the cut scenes are much higher quality. Characters actually do things, they aren't just talking heads. I also like that combat is sped up and the class roles are more defined. The only thing that annoys me is crafting and the long cool down for potions. It's just irritating and I hardly bother with it.
You can try out the demo (it's free!). I played the demo and I thought that it's not disappointing at all. Bioware applied what they learnt in Mass Effect 2 in Dragon Age without diminshing the "Dragon Age experience". But you may not like the changes. So just try the demo first..Is dragon age 2 disappointing?
I was gonna get it but luckily they brought out a demo and it was so boring i don't know if number 1 was like this but the demo wasn't worth the time and i was disappointed.
